Cognate (Industry Related Course)

A cognate student is one that is currently studying a RICS accredited degree, typically in the land, property or construction discipline.  This would include courses such as Property Development and Planning, through to Construction Project Management and straight Real Estate. You could be a fresher looking to speak with businesses about your sandwich year, or you could be a finalist searching to join a graduate scheme for post-university life

Non-Cognate (Non-Industry Related Course)

A non-cognate student hasn’t studied a RICS accredited degree, and typically could have studied anything at university. The property industry offers roles within tech, legal, marketing, PR, finance, HR and general business support and welcomes students who have a keen interest in getting into the industry regardless of degree type. Similarly some firms sponsor non-cognate students opportunity to go through a RICS accredited postgraduate conversion course.
